Overall Reflection

The exercises and assignments I was presented with from this health class were interesting. I definitely did not expect to learn so much about myself and my personal health. I thought the class would offer a general health realm about disease and how the body reacts to injury and healing. I was beyond pleased to work through the class and assess my personal health on many levels. I can't really choose which level is my favorite as all were extremely intimate. I can say that learning about my spiritual health and overall happiness at the beginning of the class was a great way to start and get me motivated to achieve whole health. I'm still working towards a healthy lifestyle but I feel that I have many more tools that will help me get a move on it. I don't want to drag out my unhealthy behaviors and this class has helped me realize not only am I living unhealthy, but also how I can address it.

One of the unexpected lessons I learned was of calories and how they affect the human body. I thought that skinny people didn't have to worry about this issue but this class has informed me that we, too, have to address this problem. I already stated in a paper before this, tracking calories also shows if your eating healthy or not.

Working out my workout plan was the hardest for me to do even though I've taken a bodybuilding class. The reason is because I didn't know the names of the workouts. After consulting a gym head it began to make sense to me. We discussed what I physically can accomplish but still work towards getting bigger. I've been wanting to create a workout plan for a while and in doing this exercise I met the perfect gym mate. When your studying health and it's this closely tied to your personal health, your bound to make major change toward your life.

The class didn't just focus on physical health but did a great deal on exercising you mind and realizing the effects and horrors of stress if you don’t handle them properly. We also learned that there is such a thing as good stress which is news to me. I really like the exercises to keep stress down that were found in the book. Speaking of the book, I didn't really like that it was so long and too many words to get the point across. It's an okay book, and defiantly helpful, but it wasn't very user friendly in that you really had to dig to get to the information you were looking for.

All and all, I really liked this class. The professor is amazing and I'm glad to have had personal encouragement from her. There was a time in the beginning when I thought I wasn't going to be able to complete the class but I quickly realized that with a little hard work I was going to be fine. Also, the professor connected with me about something that opened up to her about and she comforted me on the subject, which shows that she really is interested in the students and their success. I would defiantly recommend this class to my friends and family.
